Aside from the fact that entering positions of leadership in the baking, financial and the information technology industry is limited for the females, resulting in a very prominent glass ceiling,. Those females who have been able to penetrate the glass ceiling are being observed to leave their positions and discontinue their employed lives. “The PwC research found that among FTSE 350 companies in 2002 almost 40% of senior management posts were occupied by women.
When that research was repeated for this year, the number of senior management posts held by women had fallen to just 22%.”(Treanor, 2007) This is mostly sparked due to the increasing cost of raising and rearing children, not to mention the increasing cost of school and college tuition. This combined with the new found attractiveness of entrepreneurship, has resulted in women leaving established position of leadership and going into entrepreneurial position by establishing their own businesses.
