Employees in the work place work as a team and this ensures that the decisions made are highly influenced by social interaction. Social influence is “the way people affect the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of others” (Perloff, 2008, p.47).
Through conformity, which is the strongest form of social influence, each group member thinks or acts just like any other group member. The level of conformity in a group is determined by the size of the group, cohesion, unanimity, prior commitment and status. Although conformity is essential in the functioning of any society, too much of it is dangerous for it leads to negative tendencies.
