Education is a major component of life, required to achieve even the most basic life necessities. Both formal and informal settings are used in delivering of the knowledge and different methodologies are employed to achieve it. Above all, education plays a various roles in our day to day lives.
However, the role of communication as a means of transfer of information has come under close scrutiny by John Dewey and Paulo Freire. As discussed above, the two scholars have similarly striking views about education being a vehicle for transfer of information. Lack of dialogue, inhibiting the learners’ capacity, setting education in a static mind-set and neglecting the interests of learners are all disadvantages of using education for this role. Both scholars advocate for a liberal form of education which gives the learners the freedom to explore their ideas and develop their skills and talents.
