Another example is that of Fahrenheit 9/11 by Michael Moore. Whatever was shown in that movie was true but the way Michael Moore edited it was where the problem originated. And so was Dr. Strangelove: How I stopped worrying and start loving the bomb. It is based on fact and is one of the most accurate and authentic movie from a military viewpoint; but Kubrick showed Russians to sex starving and Vodka addicted maniacs.
Here it was the trust that people had in the director as well as in the conditions that were arising from the Cold War. Kubrick’s previous movies had been well received and there was a trust among movie goers which made them feel that this must be a good movie too, other than being real from the viewpoint of its topic. The American fear of communism helped that movie to become a success (George & Kubrick, 1964).
