Resource scheduling entails the determination of timelines upon which the various activities of the project must be completed to smooth the demands for resources. Calculation of scheduled and completion dates considers with importance the needed resources in a given activity and also resources at disposal besides their availability. The discourse attempts to make an analysis of IBM constrained resource scheduling with specific emphasis on the house building projects.
Availability of resources is important if a project should be completed before the scheduled date. Despite resource scarcity, it is critical that projects take the shortest possible time and probably the scheduled timeline to complete as any delay invites more resources (Kolish, pg 14). Projects that are allocated short time are cost effective as opposed to long term projects although the relationship between these two variables i.e. cost and time are always not directly related (Toker et al, p. 812).
